Match Preview

After losing their first two games, both the Dragons and Sea Eagles have rebounded strongly to win their next three - who takes the two points on Saturday night and makes it four victories on the trot?

With two golden point thrillers under their belt in which they emerged triumphant by one point against the Knights and Broncos, the Dragons produced their best performance of the season last week when they ran in seven tries to dismantle Canterbury by a 40-4 scoreline.

The Dragons leapfrogged the Sharks and Warriors on the table and charged into the top eight as a result, and they will now be hoping to stay their all season.

Paul McGregor has named the same 17 players as last week to take the field against Manly, as have the Sea Eagles, who got the better of Newcastle 26-18.

It was looking like another nightmare season for the Sea Eagles after they opened the campaign with two losses, but Des Hasler’s side appear resurgent at the moment, winning their last three, which included the scalp of South Sydney.

However, the Sea Eagles will need to snap a poor recent run of form against the Dragons to take home the chocolates over the Easter weekend.

St George Illawarra have won their last three meetings by a margin of 24 points or more, but with both sides in great form, this match should be much closer. It’s hard to split them, but after their big win over the Bulldogs and home ground advantage (along with their recent encounters), I give the edge to the Dragons.

Match Odds

St George Illawarra Dragons - $1.42
Manly Sea Eagles - $2.90
