New South Wales coach Brad Fittler has made a stunning seven changes as the Blues head into Sunday’s must-win State of Origin Game 2 against Queensland in Perth.

Fittler has wielded the axe after NSW went down by four points to Queensland in the opening game at Suncorp earlier this month, with centre Latrell Mitchell the highest-profile casualty.

Arguably the best centre in the world at the moment, Mitchell played poorly in Game 1 Fittler was reportedly not happy with his attitude in the lead-up during camp. Fittler has named Tom Trbojevic in his place, while Josh Morris - who scored the first try in Game 1 - has also been dropped as Jack Wighton moves into the other centre position.

Blake Ferguson has earned a recall on the wing, while Dale Finucane, Wade Graham and Tariq Sims come onto the bench. Payne Haas was ruled out with injury.

Cody Walker has also been axed in favour of veteran James Maloney, who rejoins the team to partner Penrith teammate Nathan Cleary in the halves. Mitchell Pearce was believed to have the inside lane for the halfback spot before ruling himself out with an ankle injury just prior to selection. Daniel Saifiti will also make his Origin debut in place of the injured David Klemmer and will start in the front row.

The biggest concern is Trbojevic and Wighton at centre, with neither playing that position for their club sides.

"Tom Trbojevic, we just needed to get him in the team," Fittler said.
"They've both played centre before, I'm very confident they can do the job. We've got a week to prepare with the boys and get them used to who they have to defend with and attack with. I'm very confident they will be comfortable playing in those positions."

Meanwhile, Maroons coach Kevin Walters has made just two forced changes to his victorious side from Game 1, with Titans prop Jarrod Wallace and Newcastle forward Tim Glasby coming into the side in place of the injured Joe Ofahengaue and Jai Arrow.

Bulldogs prop Dylan Napa has also been selected to start in the front row with Josh Papalii after coming off the bench in at Suncorp.
