Western Sydney Wanderers will be aiming to extend their perfect start to the season when they face Brisbane Roar in A-League Round 4 action on Saturday at Bankwest Stadium.

The Wanderers are the only team to win their first three matches of the season, emerging triumphant in a thrilling top-of-the-table showdown against reigning premiers Sydney FC in Round 3 to gain an outright lead of the competition. Markus Babbel’s side are out to make it four wins from four as they face a Brisbane side that lost to Victory in their last outing and are languishing in 10th spot without a win so far this campaign.

Round 4 kicks off at Leichhardt Oval on Friday night as Sydney look to bounce back from their derby defeat against the Newcastle Jets, who let slip of a 1-0 lead at home against Adelaide on Saturday to lose 2-1, slipping to ninth on the ladder as a result.

Melbourne Victory will be looking to build on their opening win of the season last week against Brisbane when they play host to Western United at Marvel Stadium in the second game on Saturday night. Victory were somewhat fortunate to escape with a 1-0 triumph over Brisbane, while United suffered their first loss in the A-League as they went down 2-1 to City.

Speaking of, Melbourne City bounced back strongly from their crushing FFA Cup final defeat to Adelaide mid-week as they overcame United on Sunday, and they will be out to inflict more pain on Wellington Phoenix when the two sides clash at AAMI Park this Sunday, with the Kiwi club anchored to the bottom of the ladder as the only team to suffer three straight defeats to open the season.

Round 4 concludes at nib Stadium as Perth Glory square off against Central Coast Mariners on Sunday. Perth claimed their first victory of the season in Round 3 against Wellington, while the Mariners are coming off the bye after a 1-1 draw with Newcastle the previous week.

Adelaide United have the bye this week after a perfect week saw them defend the FFA Cup and beat Newcastle 2-1 away from home.
