  • English Premier League Week 8 Tips, Predictions and Preview

Week 8 sees the highly anticipated clash between Man City and Liverpool. The pair sit together at the top of the Premier League on 19 points. Both remain undefeated after Liverpool scored a late equaliser to draw with Chelsea.

We preview Week 8 and give full previews, prediction and bets.

Brighton v West Ham

After losing their first four matches, West Ham has put a small run together, beating Everton and Man United 3-1 while drawing with Chelsea 0-0. They have looked much better in recent weeks and will be coming into their match against Brighton full of confidence. Brighton sits with just one win from seven matches. They have played four of the six top teams already so they aren’t as bad as their record would suggest.

Burnley v Huddersfield

Huddersfield is yet to record their first victory of the 2018/19 Premier League season and I’m struggling to find a reason why they can beat Burnley. Huddersfield have scored only three goals in seven matches and have a -13 goal differential. Burnley is coming off a 4-0 defeat of Bournemouth, despite both sides having five shots on target each. They should be too good for Huddersfield.

Crystal Palace v Wolves

Crystal Palace has been involved in some low scoring games so far this season. They have scored only five goals in seven games, whilst conceding only eight. They are coming off a 2-1 loss to Bournemouth but will return home to play the Wolves. The Wolves have only lost one game this season and are fresh off a 2-0 defeat of Southampton.

Watford v Bournemouth

Both Watford and Bournemouth sit with a 4-1-2 record after seven rounds and sit in sixth and seventh respectively. Watford hadn’t dropped a point in their first four matches but have hit a rough patch in recent weeks, going down to Man United and Arsenal while finishing with a 1-1 draw against Fulham. They return home and will expect a good showing against Bournemouth, who’s away record isn’t good. Their last two matches on the road was a 0-4 loss against Burnley and a 0-2 loss to Chelsea.

Leicester v Everton

I’m happy to be with Leicester at home against Everton. Everton is yet to win on the road this season, with a 0-2 loss against Arsenal and a 2-2 draw against Bournemouth. Leicester has won two in a row, keeping a clean sheet against Newcastle after scoring a convincing 3-1 victory against Huddersfield. I’m betting on Leicester being too strong at home.

Tottenham v Cardiff

This should be all one-way traffic. Tottenham have looked impressive in the opening two months of the Premier League season, cementing their spot inside the top four. Cardiff on the other hand sit winless after seven matches and have a -12 goal differential. This should be an easy kill for Tottenham at home.

Man United v Newcastle

Jose Mourinho is under extreme pressure as his men continue to underperform. Man United sit tenth on the Premier League table and are coming off a horror 1-3 loss to West Ham. They return to Old Trafford and simply must beat Newcastle, who are one of only three sides to remain winless after the first seven matches.

Fulham v Arsenal

Arsenal sit with a 5-2 record but are in terrific form, winning their last four matches. The Gunners have scored nine goals in those four matches and look to be clicking. Fulham suffered a 0-3 loss to Everton but will return home where they have performed well this season. It should be a tough test, but I’m backing Arsenal to get the job done away from home.

Chelsea sit with Man City and Liverpool are the three teams who still remain unbeaten. They had Liverpool all but beat last week before a late equalizer from Daniel Sturridge in the 89th minute tied the game at 1-1. Southampton has suffered a 0-2 defeat to the Wolves and a 0-3 defeat to Liverpool in the last fortnight but they do return home. Chelsea are airborne and should be winning again.

Liverpool v Man City

The biggest clash of the round is obviously Liverpool v Man City. This promises to be a mouthwatering clash. Liverpool scrapped out a 1-1 draw against Chelsea and will be happy to return to Anfield Stadium, where they most recently defeated Southampton 3-0. Man City are working into their season nicely, with 3-0 and 5-0 victories against Brighton and Cardiff respectively.  With Liverpool having the home pitch advantage, I cannot split these two teams and will be backing the draw.
