Melbourne Victory have a mountain to climb in AFC Champions League Group F as they take on Chinese Super League giants Guangzhou Evergrande at Tianhe Stadium on Wednesday.

Guangzhou Evergrande v Melbourne Victory kicks off at 10.00pm AEST at Tianhe Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

Match Preview

Back-to-back defeats in their opening two games has left Melbourne Victory needing a big result in China if they are to harbour hopes of qualifying from Group F.

Kevin Muscat's side lost their opener 3-1 at home to Daegu FC before going down 2-1 at Sanfrecce Hiroshima and sit bottom of the group standings without a point from two games.

Victory need a shot in the arm to their inter-continental hopes, but they do come into the game on the back of a frustrating 2-1 defeat to Sydney FC in the Big Blue on Saturday.

Two-time ACL champions Guangzhou Evergrande started with a 2-0 win over Sanfrecce before suffering a 3-1 defeat at Deagu on Matchday 2. Fabio Cannavaro's side occupy second spot on goal difference.

Guangzhou made it four wins from four to continue their perfect start to the Chinese Super League season after a 2-0 victory over rivals Guangzhou R&F and look in ominous form.

Tips

Guangzhou won 4-2 victory when Victory made their only previous visit to Tianhe Stadium, and repeated that result when winning 2-0 in Melbourne. There's little reason to expect anything different on Wednesday.
