Melbourne Victory get their 2019 AFC Champions League campaign up and running at AAMI Park on Tuesday night when they host tournament debutants Deagu FC in Group F.

Kashima vs Newcastle kicks off at 7.30pm AEST at Kashima Soccer Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports in Australia.

Match Preview

A-League premiers Melbourne Victory will begin their latest AFC Champions League campaign with high hopes with a home game against newcomers Daegu FC to start on Tuesday night.

With Chinese Super League giants Guangzhou Evergrande and J-League side Sanfreece Hiroshima the other teams in Group F, Kevin Muscat will hope his side can get things off to a winning start against a Daegu side making their AFC Champions League debut.

Victory failed to make it out of the group stages last year, but despite that they have an enviable record at home in the competition having not been beaten in Melbourne since 2011.

That will give Muscat cause for optimism ahead of the Group F opener against K-League Deagu, despite his Victory side having now gone four games without a win in the A-League.

A 2-0 defeat at home to Newcastle Jets on Saturday night saw Victory drop to third spot on the A-League ladder, but had attentions already turned to this key AFC Champions League game?

Daegu, who qualified for the ACL after winning the 2018 Korean FA Cup with a defeat of Ulsan Hyundai, began their domestic season on Friday night when holding champions Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors to a 1-1 draw.

With Daegu likely to play counter-attacking tactics, Victory will have to be at their best to break down the K-League defences. With Ola Toivanen set to return and Keisuke Honda set for his first appearance in the competition, they might just have enough.
