Perth Glory look to extend their unbeaten run to nine matches when they face Melbourne Victory in a top-of-the-table showdown in A-League Round 18 action on Sunday.

Prediction

Match Preview

Glory have the chance to create a seven-point buffer at the top of the ladder when they come up against defending premiers Victory on Sunday.

Currently four points clear of Victory and on an eight-match unbeaten streak - along with a two-match winning run against Victory - Perth are the team to beat at the moment.

Still with just one defeat across the first 17 rounds, Tony Popovic has worked his magic with Glory since arriving at the club, and they aren’t showing any signs of slowing down, easing past Wellington 3-0 last week.

Chris Ikonomidis, Diego Castro and Andy Keogh have combined to form the most dangerous attacking trio in the competition, but their prowess up front will be rivalled by their opponents on Sunday.

Already boasting the likes of Ola Toivonen, Kosta Barbarouses and James Troisi, Victory have named Japanese star Keisuke Honda to return from injury for this clash.

Considering how tough it is to go back-to-back in the A-League, Victory have done a superb job locking down a top two spot for the bulk of the season after claiming the premiership last season.

Kevin Muscat’s team are also showcasing tremendous fighting qualities, coming back from 2-0 down against the Mariners last week to win 3-2.

Perth came from behind themselves to beat Victory 3-2 in October and they will be confident of claiming a result again. It promises to be an outstanding game, full of entertainment and attacking flair, but with a big crowd expect at AAMI Park, I’m backing Victory to raise their level and make a statement.

Match Odds

Melbourne Victory - $2.20
