Perth Glory host Melbourne City in the FFA Cup on Wednesday night.

Perth Glory are gunning for their second consecutive appearance in the FFA Cup final when they take on Melbourne City in the semi-finals on Wednesday night.

Glory and City kick off at 9.30pm AEDT (6.30pm local time) at nib Stadium. Watch and bet on the game live online at bet365.

Glory secured their spot in the final four with a penalty shootout triumph over the Wanderers, while City were far too strong for Heidelberg United in their quarter-final clash.

Both these sides are aiming to bounce back from last-start defeats in the A-League in this all-important FFA Cup semi-final clash, with Perth going down at home to Wellington and City falling to a heartbreaking final-minute loss to Melbourne Victory.

We may just be two years into the competition, but Perth are proving to be FFA Cup specialists. With their final loss to Adelaide still hurting from 2014, they are looking to go one step further this year.

They’ve advanced through to the semi-finals in challenging fashion, needing penalty shootouts to overcome the Newcastle Jets and Wanderers, while they had to play almost 120 minutes with 10 men against Brisbane Lions FC.

While Glory have had to dig deep and scrape the bottom of the barrel for their victories, it’s been a completely different story for City.

John van’t Schip’s troops have cruised into the final four, scoring 12 goals in their three matches so far - including five each against the Wellington Phoenix and Heidelberg.

The one thing that could prove City’s undoing in this contest is their extensive casualty ward, which includes the likes of Aaron Hughes, Ivan Franjic, Corey Gamiero, Harry Novillo, Robert Koren, Michael Zullo and James Brown.

“We’ve got to back ourselves against anyone,” City’s Socceroos star Aaron Mooy said. “Perth is a strong side and made the final last year but we’ve got to take out the best if we want to be the best.”

Prediction:

This will be a classic cup affair with both teams backing up from disappointing losses on the weekend. One team will go home disappointed again, while the other will book their spot in the decider. Despite their injury woes, City are looking the better team at present for me. I’m backing them to come up trumps and secure an all-Victoria final, most likely against bitter rivals Victory.

Recommended Bet:

Result: City to win ($2.65, Ladbrokes)
