Match Preview

In a four-way tie for first on the competition ladder after two rounds of the new A-League season, can Perth extend their unbeaten run when they square off against Brisbane on Saturday night?

Tipped by many to surprise this season and challenge for the premiership, Glory have been impressive to launch their campaign, drawing 1-1 with the Wanderers in their opening game before registering a superb 3-2 away triumph against reigning premiers Melbourne Victory last week.

Tony Popovic has already got his team playing to his structure and it hasn’t taken long for his influence to take shape at the club. One of the biggest under-achieving clubs of the A-League era, can Perth finally step up and make an impact this season?

Brisbane will be hoping an ex-Glory man can return to haunt his former club, with Adam Taggart opening his account for his new club in their 1-1 draw with Wellington in Round 1.

Taggart and Brisbane were held to a 0-0 stalemate against Wellington at home last weekend, but the Roar have shown flashes of brilliance in their opening two games, but they have lacked the cutting edge in the final third to translate those draws into wins.

With two games under his belt, John Aloisi will be hoping Taggart can showcase the sort of form that took him to the A-League golden boot with Newcastle a few seasons ago and saw him bang in the goals for Perth last season.

Goals have been aplenty in the last two meetings between these sides, with Brisbane winning both games 3-2, while Perth won their first clash last season 2-1. At least one team has scored multiple goals in the last nine encounters between the sides, so expect more goals on Saturday night as both sides look to continue their impressive starts to the season.
