Premier League Tips - 4 best bets for EPL Week 17

  • Best bets for Saturday's EPL games
Stoke manager Mark Hughes can celebrate a win

The final round of Premier League fixtures before Christmas takes place this weekend, and we have picked out the best four bets for EPL Week 17.

Read our best four bets to back this weekend:

Middlesbrough v Swansea City

Back-to-back defeats to Southampton and Liverpool have left Middlesbrough hovering above the relegation zone heading into this weekend, so they will be eager to return to winning ways when Swansea City pay a visit to the Riverside. I like their chances. Boro’s home form may not look particularly impressive, but when you look closer their last two defeat at the Riverside have come against top four clubs. Swansea’s away record is pathetic – four points taken from a possible 24 – so you have to like Middlesbrough’s chances of claiming all three points.

Stoke City v Leicester City

Leicester City were on a high after last weekend’s win over Manchester City, but they were brought crashing back down to Earthy by Bournemouth in midweek and I expect another defeat for the reigning champions on Saturday. The Foxes have picked up just one point from a possible 24 on their travels this season and that does not bode well for this meeting with Stoke City. The Potters have been picking up points routinely at home and I see no reason why they cannot capitalise on Leicester’s travel sickness to record a home win this weekend.

Sunderland v Watford

Sunderland’s recent renaissance has been halted by back-to-back defeats, but their recent home form will give them hope going into Saturday. The Black Cats were beaten by red-hot league leaders Chelsea in midweek, but they did win each of their two home games prior to that and Watford are not the best of travellers. The Hornets have lost each of their last three away from home – winning just one of the last six – so I fancy Sunderland to stop their losing ways and haul themselves off the bottom of the table on Saturday.

West Ham United v Hull City

West Ham United have rebounded from a couple of heavy defeats by taking four points from their last two games. The Hammers followed up a fine draw at Liverpool with a win over Burnley in midweek and I expect them to collect another three points this Saturday. Their home form has not exactly been impressive, but Hull City’s away record is nothing short of miserable with only four points taken from a possible 24. The Tigers have lost their last six away games in the Premier League and West Ham should make it seven-in-a-row.
