Stars vs Strikers Tips, Preview & Prediction
The Strikers will be out to consolidate their top four spot and replicate their win over the Stars from earlier this week when they two sides clash at the MCG on Friday night.
In what was star spinner Rashid Khan’s last match for the Strikers this season, Adelaide chased down the Stars to prevail by five wickets at Adelaide Oval.
After restricting the Stars to 7/149, the Strikers mowed down the Stars’ total with one over remaining. Phil Salt provided the early fireworks with 31, while Jon Wells (36) and Ryan Gibson (22 not out) were also stand-outs on the night.
Wes Agar and Daniel Worrall both continued their good form with the ball, taking two wickets apiece, while Rashid also chipped in with a brace, narrowly missing out on a hat-trick at one stage.
Marcus Stoinis continued his return to form for the Stars by firing 47 off 31 in an explosive start to the night, but a lack of support at the top of the order and another duck to Glenn Maxwell meant the total was never going to be an intimidating one for the Strikers to pursue.
Nic Maddison did his best upon his return to injury to elevate the score, blasting 48 off 34 – including two sixes off the last two balls – but it ultimately wasn’t enough.
The Stars are now languishing in ninth spot on the ladder with four defeats from their last five, but they are still close enough to the finals. They have home ground advantage at the MCG for this reverse fixture and can bounce back if Stoinis receives more support early.
