The Melbourne Stars chances of making the finals this season have taken a major hindrance, with two back-to-back defeats against the Scorchers and Renegades due to a large number of the playing squad catching COVID-19.

Adam Zampa is named as the captain of the squad as he and multiple other players return to the squad. Glenn Maxwell is one of the only players missing.
