Hurricanes vs Heat Tips, Preview & Prediction
These teams played against each other on Sunday, December 27 and it was the Brisbane Heat that prevailed by four wickets with 16 balls left.
The Hurricanes were sent into bat and struggled as they made 7/148 off their 20 overs. D’Arcy Short top scored with 27 and James Faulkner scored 26 not out. Lewis Gregory picked up 3/22 off his four overs while Mark Steketee took 2/36 off his four overs.
In reply, Heat openers Max Bryant and Sam Heazlett scored 31 and 48 respectively to give their team control of the match. The Heat then has a middle-order collapse before captain Jimmy Peirson and James Bazley guided the team home.
That win was the Heat’s first in the competition after dropping their first three matches. They currently sit sixth on the table while the Hurricanes are fourth with three wins and two losses.
The Hurricanes are a lot better than their previous batting effort showed with the likes of Ben McDermott, Dawid Malan and Colin Ingram all getting starts before being dismissed. Only one or two of those players needs to make a decent score in the rematch and the Hurricanes should post a strong total.
It should be a good clash but the Hurricanes can take this one out.
English batsman Dawid Malan is devastating in T20 cricket with five centuries to his name and a strike rate of 129.25. In England’s recent T20 series against South Africa, Malan scored 55 and 99 not out. Happy to back him to top score for the Hurricanes.
Wicketkeeper Ben McDermott has started well this tournament and like his chances of scoring more than 35.5 Player Performance points.
