Renegades vs Heat Tips, Preview & Prediction
It’s a must-win game for the Brisbane Heat as they aim to keep pace in the race to the BBL10 finals when they square off against the Melbourne Renegades on Saturday at Marvel Stadium.
These two teams played just over a week ago, with Brisbane prevailing by five wickets. The Heat set a total of 150/5 as Chris Lynn made 50, while Joe Denly and Joe Burns each chipped in with 31 runs each.
Mark Steketee again proved why he is one of the best bowlers of BBL10, taking two wickets as he led the charge in holding the Renegades to 149 in a thrilling chase.
The Heat have since lost their last two matches to the Scorchers and Strikers, which has seen them slip to seventh on the ladder. However, they are just two points off fifth place and three off the second-placed Scorchers.
With the experienced Marnus Labuschagne and Mitchell Swepson back into the squad for the remainder of the season, the Heat should be backing themselves to make the finals – especially if Chris Lynn can raise his level for the last couple of matches.
The Renegades have already been eliminated from finals contention with just three wins from their 12 games, but they do bring winning momentum into this one, chasing down cross-town rivals Melbourne Stars as 20-year-old Mackenzie Harvey made 47 off just 21.
It’s pretty much deja vu for the Heat on Saturday – they entered their final game of last season needing a win over the Renegades in order to make the finals, but fell short. I’m backing them not to make the same mistake twice.
