Hurricanes vs Stars Tips, Preview & Prediction

The Melbourne Stars will try and get their season back on track after a humiliating 75-run loss to the Sydney Thunder on Tuesday.

Stars bowlers were smashed all over the ground as the Thunder made 7/219 off their 20 overs. Alex Hales belted 71 off 29 balls and Callum Ferguson helped himself to 51 from 33 deliveries. All seven Stars bowlers went for 8.67 runs or more per over with Liam Hatcher and Adam Zampa conceding 51 and 49 runs off their four overs.

The Stars could only manage 144 as they were bowled out after 19.5 overs. It was dismal reading with four batsmen scoring 20-odd before being dismissed.

It was a tight contest for the Hobart Hurricanes in their latest match as they defeated the Brisbane Heat by one run courtesy of a last ball run out of Mark Steketee whose bat bounced short of the crease and was in the air as the ball hit the stumps.

The Hurricanes batted first and were bowled out for 150 with Dawid Malan and Tim David scoring 39 and 36 respectively. Despite five wickets from Mujeeb Ur Rahman, the Heat would fall agonisingly short to finish 8/149 off their 20 overs. Riley Meredith struck early with 3/21 off four and Scott Boland claimed 2/18 off his four overs.

Melbourne continues to remain one of the tournament favourites and they will need to start winning as their two-match slump has seen them fall to fifth on the BBL table with two wins and two losses. The Hurricanes are 4-2 for the season and winning this match will help them stay in contention with the two Sydney teams at the top of the ladder.

Despite being blown out last time, the Stars should be able to bounce back with a much-needed victory.

Stoinis has had a mixed tournament so far with scores of 61 and 27 to go along with 4 and 0. He has batted well against the Hurricanes in the past and believe he can score 25 or more here.

Malan has started his BBL campaign with scores of 15 and 39. He looks the mostly likely Hurricanes batsman to top score at the moment and one month ago had scored 99 not out for England against South Africa at Cape Town.
