The Sydney Sixers survived a minor scare against the Hurricanes on Wednesday, to win the match by 14 runs in a low scoring affair to make it five wins on the trot.

Although they did get the win, it wasn’t convincing. If it wasn’t for a superb knock by captain Moises Henriques’, who salvaged his sides innings to post a defendable score of 144.

They already look destined for a top two finish just two matches into their campaign, which will give them a lifeline in the playoffs if they are to lose their first playoff match.

In contrast, it was the Hurricanes season opener and although they were chasing a smaller total, no batsmen seemed to create a meaningful innings, with only Peter Handscomb making more than 22 runs.

The dangerous opening pair of Matthew Wade and D’Arcy Short should have a better time of things batting on the SCG pitch, which is shown so far this season how bat friendly it can be.

The Sixers are in some good form to start their championship defence, and I don’t see them breaking stride on Saturday night, particularly with the home ground advantage.
