Thunder vs Hurricanes Tips, Preview & Prediction
Both teams need a win with the Sydney Thunder losing their past two matches and the Hobart Hurricanes on a three-match losing streak.
They played each other on January 7 with the Thunder winning by 39 runs. Usman Khawaja 49 (33) and Alex Ross 44* (33) led the way for the Thunder while D’Arcy Short picked up 3/26 (4) with ball in hand. The Hurricanes could only manage 8/128 in reply to the Thunder’s 5/167. Chris Green, Nathan McAndrew and Tanveer Sangha all picked up two wickets apiece.
The Thunder have lost to the Perth Scorchers by 17 runs and Sydney Sixers by five wickets in their past two matches. Despite a pair of losses, both the Scorchers and Sixers are playing well so the Thunder will take some confidence from those defeats.
Meanwhile, the Hurricanes have dropped three in a row to the Melbourne Stars by 10 runs, Thunder by 39 runs and Scorchers by nine wickets with 22 balls remaining.
This match looks a great opportunity for the Thunder, who currently sit second with a 6-4 record, to get back on track as they look to play Finals later in the BBL10 season.
Thunder opener Usman Khawaja missed out against the Sixers with just two runs. He has been consistent for most of the season despite not scoring a half century. He will get his chance at the top of the order to lead the scoring for Sydney.
Tanveer Sangha has picked up 16 wickets for the season and should go close to taking the most wickets for the Thunder in this match.
