Scorchers vs Heat Tips, Preview & Prediction
Brisbane Heat, despite being underdogs with the bookies, will be targeting their fifth straight win when they take on a slumping Perth Scorchers on Thursday night.
The winner will go on to face the Sydney Sixers at the SCG on Saturday night for the right to be crowned BBL10 champions.
It’s been a sensational back-end to the season for the Heat – they’ve won their last four matches against the Renegades, Strikers, Thunder and Scorchers to propel themselves to within one game of the championship decider.
Marnus Labuschagne has been a fantastic inclusion to the side with both the bat and ball, while Chris Lynn remains an ever-present threat at the top of the order.
Sam Heazlett (74 not out) and Jimmy Peirson (43 not out) were superb in the Heat’s seven-wicket victory over the Thunder to reach the Challenger Final in their last outing.
Meanwhile, the Scorchers come into this clash on the back of two consecutive defeats against the Heat and Sixers, while they’ve also had the added disappointment of seeing their home final being moved to Canberra.
The Scorchers have been on fire at Optus Stadium, so the fact they’re not playing on their home turf is a big boost to Brisbane’s chances.
Perth have won eight of nine matches before losing their last two and they’ve been defeated in all three of their games at Manuka Oval so far this season.
They will need Colin Munro to continue his outstanding form, which has seen him score 30+ in seven of his last nine innings, including four 50s for a total of 441 runs.
Overall though, there’s not much to justify Perth being favourites here. Brisbane have all the momentum with key players in form, while the Scorchers are winless at this venue for the season – we’ll be backing the Heat to pick up their fifth win on the trot to surge into the final.
