Sixers vs Scorchers Tips, Preview & Prediction
The Sixers will be out to avenge their loss to the Scorchers earlier this season and cement their status at the top of the Big Bash ladder when the two teams square off in the nation’s capital on Saturday night.
With seven wins from their 10 BBL10 games so far this season, the Sixers have been the most consistent side in the competition – and that form continued in their last outing as they prevailed in a rain-affected clash with the Thunder.
Josh Philippe fired 64 from just 36 balls in a superb knock for the Sixers as the side chased down 129 from 14 overs under the Duckworth Lewis Stern method. Philippe, who has now scored two half-centuries this season, is No. 1 for runs scored this season with 337.
Steve O’Keefe also registered his best BBL figures as he was named Player of the Match after taking 3-15 from his four overs.
Meanwhile, the Scorchers will be out to prove they can play outside of Optus Stadium after exploding into form on their own turf in recent weeks, winning their last five matches.
Up to third spot on the ladder, the Scorchers continued their sensational run of form in their last match, crushing the Hobart Hurricanes by nine wickets on Tuesday.
Needing just 140 to win, the Scorchers chased down the total with ease as the all-English partnership of Jason Roy and Liam Livingston put together a 123-run stand, which is the second-highest of the season.
Roy scored an unbeaten 74, including seven fours and three sixes, and was awarded Player of the Match honours.
It sets up what should be a cracking clash on Saturday night. The Scorchers have been the form team over the last couple of weeks, but the jury is still out on whether they can reproduce their home form on the road. We’ll be backing the top-of-the-table Sixers until proven otherwise.
