Sixers vs Scorchers Tips, Preview & Prediction

A total of 60 BBL10 matches have been played and it all comes down to the BBL10 Final between the Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers.

The best two sides meet in the Final after the defending champion Sixers finished on top of the table with nine wins and five losses, while the Scorchers finished second with eight wins and five losses.

Chasing their third Big Bash League title, the Sixers look to emulate their rivals as the Scorchers are the only team to win back-to-back titles. The Sixers won the very first Big Bash in 2011-12 and won it against last season with a 19-run victory over the Melbourne Stars.

The Scorchers have won three titles and will try and deny the Sixers the chance to equal them on Saturday night.

Both teams possess excellent batting line ups as the Sixers average 165.5 runs per match and the Scorchers average 163.7. The Sixers do concede 163 runs compared to the Scorchers’ 146.5 runs given up on average.

The key batsmen for the Sixers are openers Josh Philippe and James Vince followed by Daniel Hughes and captain Moises Henriques. Dan Christian has shown he is a match winner in the middle order and he can help out if a couple of the top order fail to fire.

For the Scorchers, there are question marks surrounding opener Jason Roy. If he misses the Final, it will be a huge blow for the Scorchers despite replacement Cameron Bancroft scoring an unbeaten 58 to help the Scorchers beat the Brisbane Heat to advance to the Final.

Roy will be a crucial man for the Scorchers if he does play as he can blast quick runs along with fellow opening batsman Liam Livingstone. Colin Munro, Mitchell Marsh, Josh Inglis and Ashton Turner provide strong middle order support for Perth.

The odds suggest this match is a coin flip and it is hard to disagree with that fact. The Sixers have beaten the Scorchers in the past two matches but I think the Scorchers will get their revenge when it matters most and capture another BBL title.

Englishman James Vince has been excellent with the bat, including scores of 98 not out and 52 against the Scorchers this season. He looks a strong candidate to lead the scoring for the Sixers in the Final.

For the Scorchers batting, I like New Zealand left-hander Colin Munro. He wasn’t required to bat against the Heat, but made a pair of 30s against the Sixers and also a 50. He is generally very reliable with the bat.

Looking at the Sixers bowling, Sean Abbott has been a very good T20 bowler over the years and has taken five wickets from three matches since joining the team after playing for Australia and Australia A.

Picking the leading Scorchers wicket taker is not an easy task with Jhye Richardson, AJ Tye and Jason Behrendorff all capable of taking multiple wickets in a match. Throw in spinner Fawad Ahmed into the mix too. I have a leaning towards Behrendorff’s left-arm bowling in this match.
