It was a horrid start to the season for the Heat, losing their first two matches against the Thunder (seven wickets) and last seasons runners-up Perth (six runs).

However, they will be looking for back-to-back triumphs this time around after bouncing back against the Renegades by five wickets to win their first match of the season. James Bazley provided the goods with the ball, finishing with figures of 3/28.

They will be eager to finally play at their home ground this season now that the first Ashes test concluded last weekend. They have a good record against the Thunder at the Gabba, winning four of the previous five meetings.

Juxtaposed to the Sydney Thunder, who after opening their campaign with a win, have fallen to back-to-back defeats against the Melbourne Stars.

In fact, their only win this season came against the Brisbane Heat at Manuka Oval. Daniel Sams took 3/22 with the ball, but Alex Ross’ unbeaten 61* (46) comfortably dragged them over the line.

Although Alex Ross made his top score of BBL 11 last time out, it wasn’t enough as the Stars cruised past the 151-run target, leaving some question marks over their bowling attack.

Although the Thunder defeated the Heat in the meeting earlier in the season, I believe the home ground advantage will prove too much for Trevor Bayliss’ outfit.
