Sixers vs Thunder Tips, Preview & Prediction
The season is going perfectly for defending champion Sydney Sixers as they sit eight points clear at the top of the table with eight wins and three losses. They have won their last three matches.
After a dismal performance against the Perth Scorchers, the Sixers bounced back with a last-ball victory over the Brisbane Heat.
Both of these teams then met on January 13 with the Sixers winning by five wickets. The Thunder batted first scoring 6/166 off 20 overs with Alex Hales hitting 54 and Daniel Sams unbeaten with 50. Steve O’Keefe took 3/15 off four overs. Rain meant the Sixers would have to chase a target of 129 with 14 overs to bat. Once again, Josh Philippe led the way with 64 from 36 balls.
In their latest match, the Sixers got revenge against the Scorchers with a seven-wicket victory. Carlos Braithwaite took 2/12 off three overs while Dan Christian took 2/22 off four. Philippe again top scored with 84 from 52 balls and James Vince added 52 as the Sixers chased down the target of 164.
The Thunder have lost to the Scorchers by 17 runs, the Sixers and the Hobart Hurricanes by six wickets.
This match could be close with both teams playing well throughout most of the tournament. With momentum and a win over the Thunder recently, the Sixers look the most likely team to triumph.
Dan Christian thrives on T20 cricket and has played all around the world in this format of the game. At 37 years of age, he continues to be a match winner for the Sixers. He has scored 182 runs in BBL10 and taken 12 wickets to go along with 10 catches. He looks a strong chance to get over 40.5 Player Performance points.
Callum Ferguson made his first-class debut in 2004 and has amassed more than 18,000 runs in all formats. He started the season well but a lean run of low scores was followed by getting a start with 23 against the Hurricanes. He will be out to prove a point and looks value to top score for the Thunder.
