MI vs PBKS Match Prediction & Preview
The Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings are set to clash heads on Wednesday when they battle it out at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.
Rohit Sharma’s side was humbled with the bat in their 55-run loss in their last outing. The Indians loss against Bangalore has now made it three consecutive losses and has seen them into seventh place.
The Mumbai Indians started brightly, with Sharma (43) and Quinton de Kock laying the building blocks for a successful result. However, they lost eight wickets for just 32 runs, with every player scoring under 10, except for the opening pair.
Meanwhile, the Punjab Kings survived a scare against the last-placed Sunrisers over the weekend. Despite a lacklustre performance with the bat in the first innings, Ravi Bishnoi and Mohammed Shami survived the heat from West Indian Jason Holder and shared seven wickets.
In such a tight race for the third and fourth playoff spots, it’s even more crucial that in crunch matches like these that either team get a positive result, and although the Kings have the better half of the percentage for the four teams on eight points, you’d think they would still need to get into the positive net run rate to make playoffs.
Despite the Mumbai Indians being the favourites to come away with the two points in this clash, I believe it will be the Punjab Kings who rise to the occasion on Wednesday (AEST).
