Punjab Kings vs Royals Preview

The Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals are set to restart their season for the first time since May as they both look to break into the top four at the midway point of their respective campaigns.

The Kings have been inconsistent as of late with two wins in their previous five matches and will look at this match with the intention of improving their lacklustre net run rate of -0.368.

The winning side will be more dependent on their top order, with both sides possessing damaging opening batsmen against the unpredictable Dubai pitch. KL Rahul has been superb and has the highest average in the IPL this season, with 66.20.

Similarly, the Royals also have two wins in their previous five matches and have underachieved in the previous IPL seasons. If they are to make it into the playoffs this season, they will need to win crunch matches like these against similar quality opponents.

However, their second top scorer this season Jos Buttler has chosen to pull out of the IPL and remain in England. Buttler top-scored with a whopping 124 run innings in his sides comfortable victory against the Sunrisers.

It will be a tricky encounter, but I believe the Punjab Kings will have the firepower and depth with the bat to run over the top of the Rajasthan Royals and should come away with the two points in this encounter.
