Australia vs South Africa Match Prediction & Preview

Australia and South Africa are set to clash heads on Saturday when they battle it out at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium.

Justin Langer’s side doesn’t head into their first match of the World Cup in the best of form, losing to India convincingly and scraping a win against New Zealand with one ball remaining.

A worrying sign heading into this match is the form of the top order for Australia. David Warner, after getting dropped by the Sunrisers in the IPL scored just one run in the two practice matches. He will need to be in better touch if Australia wants to go all the way this tournament.

Meanwhile, South Africa has been in exceptional form, winning their previous five short format matches against three different opposition. The practice matches have shown a lot of signs that this could be an optimistic tournament.

In the first practice match, they cruised past Afghanistan, but their second was more impressive. They managed to overcome a score of 186 against Pakistan, including a 22-run last over to win by four runs. However, they did lose the last T20 series against Australia on their home deck.

Although South Africa is the team better in form, I still believe that Australia will have the batting depth to just edge it in the first game of their Twenty20 World Cup campaign.
