Australia and Sri Lanka are set to clash heads on Thursday when they battle it out at the Dubai International Stadium.

Justin Langer’s side got off to a winning start in their optimistic campaign. However, it wasn’t convincing, chasing down the short target of 118, with just two balls remaining.

The middle-order struggled to maintain meaningful partnerships, as both sides struggled with the exceptional bowling on an unpredictable pitch. Marcus Stoinis saw Australia over the line to get an important two points on the board.

Meanwhile, whilst Sri Lanka chased down Bangladesh’s 171, with an over remaining to get to a winning start. Winning matches like that in such a tough group will go a long way to progressing to the knockouts.

If it wasn’t for Charith Asalanka (80*) and Bhanuka Rajapaksa’s (53) brave 86-run partnership throughout the middle order, the Sri Lankan’s would’ve comfortably fallen short. They haven’t lost a T20 since the 14th of September, an eight-match winning streak.

It’s a tough match to predict, with Sri Lanka very capable of downing the heavy favourites Australia. The Aussies have won the last four T20 meetings and I believe that could continue Thursday.
