Covington vs Masvidal Tips & Predictions
This is a fight that you will not want to miss. It has the makings to be one of the best and fiercest UFC fights in a long time. Former friends Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal once trained and lived together before falling out and becoming rivals.
The press conference leading up to the fight was extremely heated and instead turned into a screaming match between the two fighters. This left many people wondering if it was the worst press conference in the history of the sport.
Nevertheless, they will be able to settle their disputes in the Octagon at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, March 5 (local time).
Both men were humbled in two defeats each from Nigerian Kamaru Usman in their most recent fights. However, it has been the only loss Covington has suffered since 2015 in a submission against Warlley Alves. Meanwhile, Masvidal’s last defeat came five years ago against fellow American Stephen Thompson.
“Chaos” Covington is currently ranked 1 in the welterweight category, five spots ahead of his opponent this weekend. He enters the match as the heavy favourite according to the bookies with an 11-3 record, juxtaposed to “Gamebred” Masvidal’s 12-8 record.
There’s going to be a lot of fuel to the fire in this clash in which I believe Covington could come out on top and considering seven of Masvidal’s eight losses have been by decision, that method of victory could be on the cards.
