Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs Ciryl Gane

The main event sees the #4 ranked Heavyweight Jairzinho Rozenstruik (11-1) take on unbeaten #7 Heavyweight Ciryl Gane (7-0). Looking at the tale of the tape, Gane will have a three-inch reach advantage with both men standing 6’4” tall.

Gane makes his main event debut after a 4-0 UFC run to date. He started with a pair of submission victories over Raphael Pessoa and Don’Tale Mayes. At his next fight, Gane would win via unanimous decision over Tanner Boser.

UFC fans had to quickly sit up and take notice of Gane after he stopped former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos with elbow and punches.

His opponent, Rozenstruik, has also stopped dos Santos; in addition to Junior, Rozenstruik has knocked out Alistair Overeem, Andrei Arlovski and Allen Crowder.

Gane was a perfect 7-0 in Muay Thai before making the switch to Mixed Martial Arts. He was a world champion in Muay Thai and has trained at the highest level for the past decade.

Breaking down the numbers for the fight, both men land around 3.6 significant strikes per minute. Rozenstruik absorbs 3.05 compared to Gane at 1.67 but the former has more UFC bouts to his name, including bigger names overall.

Rozenstruik’s only defeat came at the hands of Francis Ngannou who knocked out Rozenstruik within 20 seconds at UFC 249. He was lucky to beat Overeem also with a last-second vicious knockout saving Rozenstruik from facing a decision loss.

In the Heavyweight division, a single punch can end a fight in seconds and that was on display when Derrick Lewis knocked out Curtis Blaydes last weekend as a massive underdog.

Gane looks to have too many weapons in this fight because he can stop opponents with a combination of punches or elbows, but also has three submission wins to his name.
