Dragons vs Broncos Preview and Prediction

Both the Dragons and Broncos are in desperate need of a win when they clash at Jubilee Stadium on Thursday night.

St George Illawarra started the season with a bang, but they’ve slumped badly over the last couple of months and come into this encounter with six defeats from their last seven matches.

The Dragons have conceded 34 points or more in two losses against the Tigers and Storm, while they were also edged 13-12 by a Sharks team that were on a six-match losing streak.

Not the most promising form to bring into this showdown, but the Dragons do have a couple of reasons to be confident.

For starters, they’ve won their last four games against the Broncos, while they also welcome back some key figures, including Matt Dufty, Mikaele Ravalawa and former Origin star Jack de Belin, who will be playing his first NRL game since the 2018 finals series.

Meanwhile, the Broncos have shown glimpses of good footy this season, but they’ve lost nine of their 12 games this season and almost certainly won’t be featuring in the finals yet again.

Brisbane managed to pull off the upset of the season when they defeated the Roosters two weeks ago, but they conceded 50 and 40 points either side of that win to Manly and Melbourne respectively, highlighting their inconsistency.

VERDICT:

Neither side are reliable at the moment, but the Dragons have had the better of this match-up in recent years and welcome back some big names for this clash. We’ll be backing the home side to come out on top in a match that should feature plenty of points (Dragons win & over 46.5 points at $2.50 – best odds with Sportsbet).
