South Sydney Rabbitohs vs Canberra Raiders Preview & Prediction

After seeing their respective winning streaks snapped last weekend, the Rabbitohs and Raiders are looking to return to the winners circle on Saturday night at Accor Stadium.

South Sydney were flying at the top of the table on the back of six straight victories, but they were overpowered by the Eels, going down 36-16.

The Rabbitohs showed signs of slowing down in their 20-0 win over the Tigers, which was only secured in the final 10 minutes – and they definitely were more sluggish than usual as the Eels steamrolled them in the last 20.

Souths will be without Origin stars Latrell Mitchell, Cameron Murray and Jai Arrow, but they do retain most of their spine with Cody Walker and Damien Cook starting, while Campbell Graham has withdrawn from the NSW squad and is likely to take his place in the centres.

Meanwhile, the Raiders were absolutely horrendous last week in a 42-14 loss at home to a Sea Eagles side who were on a three-game losing streak.

Canberra have been a tough team to get a read on for a while now – they almost never blow teams off the park, with almost all of their wins coming in close games, while they are usually outclassed by the heavyweight clubs.

The Raiders also have some big guns missing, with Hudson Young called up into the Blues side and Elliott Whitehead suspended.

VERDICT:

Hard game to call with players out due to Origin, but I still think the Rabbitohs have the firepower to get the job done.

Walker, Illias and Cook should the spine running smoothly and the likes of Alex Johnston and Graham out wide gives them strike.

The Raiders were awful last week and might be set for a downturn in form – backing the Bunnies to bounce back and get the two points (Best Rabbitohs win H2H odds $1.72 with bet365.)
