Dragons vs Raiders Preview and Prediction

With just two points separating seventh from 14th, the Dragons and Raiders will be determined to come out on top when they face off on Saturday at WIN Stadium.

The Dragons remain inside the top eight in seventh spot, but they are in poor shape following last week’s embarrassing 28-6 loss to the last-placed Bulldogs.

Anthony Griffin’s side have now lost seven of their last nine matches, making it hard to believe how they are still inside the top eight.

Corey Norman and Matt Dufty have been told they aren’t wanted at the Dragons next season and that seemed to have an impact on both of their individual performances against the Bulldogs – especially Dufty, who’s poor positioning at fullback was responsible for several of Canterbury’s tries.

Meanwhile, the Raiders will be hoping they’ve turned a corner after a disappointing first half of the season after crushing the Broncos 38-16 at home last week.

In saying that, beating the Broncos isn’t anything to write home about these days, so Ricky Stuart will be wanting to see his side double down on that victory here as they look to remain in contention for the top eight.

Canberra have won two of their last four and lost to heavyweights the Storm and Roosters over the last month, so they look to finally be tracking in a positive direction.

VERDICT:

It’s impossible to back the Dragons after what they dished up last week against the Bulldogs.

Canberra have won four of the last five games between the teams and look to have rediscovered their mojo. Each of the last four meetings between these sides at WIN Stadium have gone over the total points line, so there should be plenty of points, but we’re happy taking the Raiders at the line (best Raiders line odds (-3.5) with Sportsbet)
