Dragons vs Raiders Preview & Prediction

It’s a massive game for both the Dragons and Raiders as the two teams lock horns at WIN Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Dragons will be looking to cement their top eight status and potentially move four points ahead of rivals the Roosters, while the Raiders need to win in order to keep pace with several other teams chasing a finals ticket.

St George Illawarra produced their best performance of the season in their last outing as a first-half blitz led to a brilliant 32-12 win over the Rabbitohs to make it three wins from their last four.

There’s no doubt Anthony Griffin’s team are much better at home – they’ve won their last five games on their own turf and pushed the Panthers all the way early in the season. In fact, the only home defeat the Dragons have suffered in 2022 was against the Sharks back in March.

Meanwhile, the Raiders have been hugely inconsistent all season and need to start stringing some better performances together in consecutive weeks if they are to feature in the finals.

Canberra were lucky to survive in their last outing, needing a last-minute try to edge the Knights 20-18 at home.

The Raiders have a great record against the Dragons, winning 20 of their last 27 meetings, but they haven’t been good on the road in 2022, losing five of their last seven. With the Dragons tough to beat at home this season, they could be in for another long day at the office.

VERDICT:

Backing the Dragons in this clash depends on the fitness of Ben Hunt. If the halfback has recovered from the leg knock he picked up in Origin 2, then we’re confident the Dragons can prevail here.

As mentioned, the Dragons have been excellent at home and the Raiders have been poor on the road all season. St George Illawarra in a tight one looks the value bet here (Best Dragons win H2H odds $2.15 with bet365).
