Canterbury Bulldogs vs New Zealand Warriors Preview & Prediction

Two teams that haven’t done much winning lately square off in the first Friday night game as the Bulldogs entertain the Warriors at Accor Stadium.

Both teams have lost four of their last five games heading into this encounter, but it’s the Warriors who should be feeling more confident having won their last five meetings with the Bulldogs, including 16-14 earlier this season.

Canterbury are starting to get some more troops back, with Josh Addo-Carr making an earlier-than-expected return from an ankle injury on the wing.

The Bulldogs had a short turnaround from their win over the Dragons and looked gassed early in Magic Round against the Raiders, leaking several soft tries.

Cameron Ciraldo’s side produced a solid comeback, but ultimately they gave Canberra too big of a head start and went down 34-30.

Meanwhile, the Warriors suffered their third straight defeat, falling 18-6 to the Panthers in Magic Round. The Warriors have scored just one try in their last two games after drawing a blank in a 14-0 loss to the Roosters in their previous outing.

The Warriors were nestled inside the top four not so long ago, but have since slipped to 11th on the ladder and risk dropping even further with another loss on Friday.

VERDICT:

Tough game to predict. The Warriors got the job done 16-14 at home back in Round 4, but the Dogs had their chances and led most of the game. Warriors have lost three straight and haven’t looked good in attack lately.

It’s a must-win game for the Bulldogs if they want to contend for the finals. We’re going to back either team by a 1-12 margin as our best bet. Promises to be a close game like their Round 4 clash, with the Warriors seeing a 1-12 margin in six of their last seven games and the Bulldogs’ last two games being decided by four points or less (Best Either Team Win 1-12 Margin odds $1.62 with Ladbrokes.)
