Bulldogs vs Eels Preview and Prediction
After bouncing back from their second loss of the season against the Sea Eagles by beating the Tigers, Parramatta will be determined for a statement performance when they face the struggling Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.
However, the Eels might have a tougher-than-expected challenge on their hands after Canterbury notched up their second win of the season last week against Newcastle.
Furthermore, the Bulldogs proved they can hang with the Eels set for set in the opening round, going down in a close 8-2 contest, with just one try scored in 80 minutes.
Canterbury love to get up for the Eels, and with the combination of their backline finally looking settled and the relaxed influence of interim coach Steve Georgallis, the Dogs could be primed for a similar mini-run to the one they enjoyed towards the end of last season.
Which means Parramatta can’t afford to take this game lightly. Brad Arthur’s side started slowly against the Tigers last week, but they managed to get a grip on the game late into the opening half and ultimately rode that momentum all the way to victory.
Maika Sivo has found his blistering best try-scoring form and he will be confident of crossing the stripe once more in this one.
However, I do think this will be closer than most people expect. The Bulldogs always put in the effort and can defend like a top eight side on their day.
I doubt Canterbury have enough points in them for the upset, but they will make the Eels work for the victory.
