Rabbitohs vs Bulldogs Preview and Prediction

Assured of a finals spot but realistically out of reach of the top four, the Rabbitohs will be hoping complacency doesnโ€™t get the better of them when they face the last-placed Bulldogs on Thursday night.

Complacency almost cost Souths against the Tigers last week, with the side racing out to a 20-0 lead in the first 30 minutes before almost bottling it late, eventually surviving by a 26-24 scoreline.

Apart from that minor hiccup, the Rabbitohs have been impressive over the last month, registering huge wins over Manly and Parramatta and pushing Melbourne all the way before going down by six points.

Wayne Bennett knows timing is everything, and after dishing up inconsistent performances for most of the season, thereโ€™s a chance the Rabbitohs could be peaking at exactly the right time.

However, they will want to record a statement win over the struggling Bulldogs in order to maintain some momentum heading into the finals.

You get the feeling Canterbury have missed their window to avoid the wooden spoon after failing to win a number of tight games from winnable positions over the last month.

The Bulldogs could have easily defeated the Tigers, Warriors, Canberra, Titans and Manly in their last five games, but theyโ€™ve forgotten how to win and simply donโ€™t have the attack to get them over the line.

Indeed, the Bulldogs are making just 2.6 line breaks per game, which is the worst of any team in the last four years.

Souths will have learnt their lesson from last week and should be able to post a comfortable victory on Thursday night.
