Canberra Raiders vs Dolphins Preview & Prediction
The Raiders haven’t had to wait long for their shot at revenge when they face the Dolphins on Saturday in Wagga Wagga.
The Dolphins stunned Canberra back in Round 2, coming back in the second half to prevail 20-14 on the back of a Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow match-winning try.
Wayne Bennett’s side have continued to impress in their inaugural season, winning five of their eight games to be sitting inside the top eight.
Last week was the most memorable of the lot, with the Dolphins producing the equal-biggest comeback in NRL history, recovering from a 26-0 deficit to run over the top of the Titans 28-26.
Meanwhile, the Raiders are coming off the bye, which is good news for them when you consider the Green Machine have won their last four games after a week’s break.
It was a slow start to the season for Canberra, but an upset win on the road over the Broncos might prove to be the catalyst that turns their fortunes around.
The Raiders followed that triumph by edging the Dragons 20-14 at home and will be searching for their third win on the trot here.
It will be interesting to see how Jack Wighton performs after it was announced he would be moving to the Rabbitohs from next season.
VERDICT:
The Dolphins keep on surprising, but I still can’t bring myself to back them. They were down 26-0 to the Titans and had absolutely no business winning that game. They also lost 38-12 to the Dragons recently one of the worst teams in the competition.
Canberra rarely blow teams off the park, so we’ll back them to prevail with a small -2.5 line, while a 1-12 margin victory also looks decent value (Best Raiders -2.5 line odds $1.72 with Ladbrokes.)
