Dolphins vs South Sydney Rabbitohs Preview & Prediction

Wayne Bennett will tackle the South Sydney Rabbitohs for the first time since leaving the club back in 2021 when his Dolphins look to continue their sensational start to life in the NRL on Thursday night.

The Dolphins have surprised everyone to win four of their six games so far, coming into this clash in fourth spot on the ladder.

Without the likes of Sean O’Sullivan, Anthony Milford and Jesse Bromwich last week, the Dolphins still found a way to prevail, edging the Cowboys 32-22.

Jamayne Issako has been on fire, scoring over half of the Dolphins’ points for the season and leading the try-scoring tally for the competition (eight alongside teammate Hamiso Tabu-Fidow).

Meanwhile, the Rabbitohs head into this showdown fresh off their best performance of the season, demolishing the Bulldogs 50-16 on Good Friday.

Latrell Mitchell exploded with three tries, two try assists and 191 running metres in what was his 150th NRL game.

Souths will be targeting some consistency and consecutive match wins for the first time in 2023 here and they will be confident considering they’ve won 16 of their last 19 games in Queensland.

VERDICT:

The Dolphins have been mightily impressive, but their depth is getting tested and they should be outclassed by the better sides as the season goes on.

Souths stepped it up last week and if they maintain that level, they should win this game relatively comfortably. The Dolphins can keep it close initially, but like last week, look for the Rabbitohs to roll over the top of their opponents in the second half (Best Rabbitohs Win & Over 36.5 Points odds $1.75 with Ladbrokes.)
