Sydney Roosters vs Dolphins Preview & Prediction
The Roosters will have revenge on their minds when they host the Dolphins in NRL Round 24 action at Allianz Stadium on Saturday night.
These two teams squared off for the first time back in Round 1, with the Dolphins registering a historic 28-18 upset for their first win in the NRL.
However, the Dolphins haven’t been able to continue that early-season momentum and come into this clash with just two wins from their last 10 games.
The Dolphins have been fortunate to barely play any games in Sydney this season, with their only such fixture resulting in a 58-18 crushing at the hands of Manly.
Wayne Bennett’s side have been unlucky lately, with their last four defeats coming by 1-12 margins and their last two against the Bulldogs and Knights by one and two points respectively.
Meanwhile, the Roosters have been horribly inconsistent all season, but they are still a shot at the finals if they win this game.
The Roosters got the job done 26-16 over Manly last week and are now searching for back-to-back wins for the first time in three months.
If the Roosters keep winning, it could potentially set up a blockbuster final-round showdown with old rivals the Rabbitohs to decide who makes the finals.
VERDICT
Tough to trust the Roosters given their inconsistent performances all season, but I can’t see them slipping up at home here.
The Dolphins have been poor for the last few months and have won just one game outside of Queensland all season. Will back the Roosters to grind this out with Over 38.5 total points, which has landed in their last four games and in 14 of the Dolphins’ last 17 outings (Best Roosters Win & Over 38.5 total points odds $1.67 with bet365.)
