Titans vs Panthers Preview and Prediction

Undefeated competition leaders Penrith look to continue their sensational start to the season when they come up against the Titans in the last game of Magic Round on Sunday night.

The Panthers have been near flawless this season, winning their first nine games of the season on the back of some brilliant attack and rock solid defence.

Jarome Luai and Nathan Cleary have been on fire in attack, setting up countless tries for their young and energetic outside backs, but it’s been in defence where the Panthers have been most impressive.

Indeed, the Panthers are conceding an average of just six points per game this season. Penrith didn’t even leak a point last week in a 48-0 rout of the hapless Sharks.

The same can’t be said for the Titans, who have conceded 140 points in their last four games. Gold Coast have leaked at least 28 points in their last four matches and obviously can’t gift the Panthers that many points if they are any chance to cause an upset.

Gold Coast snapped a three-match losing streak last week with a 36-28 victory against the Tigers, but they will still need considerable improvement to match it with the Panthers.

Aiming to become just the seventh team in history to win their first 10 games of the season, I can’t see the Panthers losing this one.

Penrith’s defence should see the match go under the total points line, while their attack will likely still see them win comfortably.
