Titans vs Wests Tigers Preview & Prediction

It all went wrong for the Titans and Tigers last week – who bounces back and emerges victorious when the two sides clash to open Round 4 action on Thursday night?

Gold Coast should be heading into this encounter with a 2-1 record to start the season after racing out to a 22-0 lead over the Raiders in the nation’s capital last week.

However, the Titans’ poor defence and concentration cost them again as they leaked 24 unanswered points to grasp defeat from the jaws of victory.

The Titans’ attack is up their with the best in the competition, but until they get their defence right, they can’t be taken seriously as a top eight contender. They also failed to beat a top six team all through 2021, highlighting their struggles against the elite.

Fortunately for the Titans, they are facing a team in absolute shambles at the moment.

The Tigers are the only team without a win after three rounds as the pressure continues to mount on Michael Maguire.

After a promising start to the season where they pushed the Storm all the way, the Tigers have collapsed to a pair of disappointing defeats to the Knights and Warriors.

Deserved favourites for the wooden spoon, it’s tough to see the Tigers turning their season around, even if at this extremely early stage.

VERDICT:

Neither of these two teams are reliable at the best of times, but the Titans really should be winning this at home. However, there’s not much value, except backing them in the 1-12 margin market.

We’ll instead be backing over 43.5 total points as our best bet. The Titans can’t defend, so the Tigers should get more chances to score points, which should open the game up. The last two meetings between the teams have seen 64 and 51 points, so odds are we’ll see another high-scoring affair on Thursday night (Best Over 43.5 total points odds $1.91 with bet365.)
