Sea Eagles vs Bulldogs Preview & Prediction

Manly will view this game as the perfect opportunity to get off the mark in 2022 when they host the Bulldogs at 4 Pines Park to conclude NRL Round 3 action on Sunday night.

After going 0-4 to start last season, nobody would have expected the Sea Eagles to go on a similar losing run to open 2022 – especially with Tom Trbojevic fit and ready to begin the year.

In saying that, the Sea Eagles had a rough draw against reigning premiers Penrith and the Roosters. Manly struggled throughout 2021 against top four teams, but were able to bully those below them on the ladder.

Sea Eagles fans will be hoping the same pattern rings true when the Bulldogs roll into Brookvale on Sunday.

Canterbury have undergone a major roster overhaul as they attempt to get back to the glory days – and they’ve played decent across their first two rounds, beating the Cowboys 6-4 and going down to the Broncos 16-10.

There’s a definite improvement in energy and passion from the Dogs, especially in defence, but there’s still lingering issues in attack that needs addressing – although Matt Burton had a great game in a losing effort against Brisbane.

VERDICT:

The Bulldogs have been good defensively so far, but they face their biggest test yet against Manly at Brookvale.

The Sea Eagles famously put 66 points on the Bulldogs last season and Tom Trbojevic will be relishing the chance to open up Canterbury again – especially down Jayden Okonbor’s side, with the winger responsible for letting in all three of the Broncos’ tries last week.

We’ll be backing Manly to bounce back and open their account for 2022 with a fairly comfortable win at home (Best Manly -11.5 line odds $1.91 with bet365.)
