Canterbury Bulldogs vs Manly Sea Eagles Preview & Prediction
Two teams that have experienced disappointing campaigns clash on Sunday at Accor Stadium as the Bulldogs and Sea Eagles attempt to record a win in their penultimate games for the season.
Both teams have registered the same amount of wins as they did last season, but sit lower on the table.
The Bulldogs have now missed the finals for seven straight seasons, with the appointment of Cameron Ciraldo and a string of marquee signings failing to deliver any improvement.
Canterbury’s defence has been absolutely abysmal all season – their points differential is horrific and they’ve conceded the most line breaks and tries out of any side in the competition.
Indeed, the Bulldogs have leaked 34+ points in their last seven defeats.
Meanwhile, Manly have seen their finals hopes evaporate on the back of three straight defeats.
However, the Sea Eagles have showcased plenty of grit in their last two losses against premiership contenders Penrith and the Warriors, going down by 1-12 margins in both.
VERDICT
Manly have won eight of the last nine meetings with Canterbury and should have the upper hand again here.
We’ll be backing Over 46.5 total points as our best bet. As mentioned, the Bulldogs’ defence is utterly atrocious, but their attack has improved with a recognised halfback in Toby Sexton steering the ship.
The Sea Eagles have always been strong offensively, even without Tommy Turbo and they managed 22 points across the ditch to a strong Warriors side. Manly should be able to pile on the points here, while the Bulldogs can also contribute to the total, going over 46.5 in seven of their last eight games (Best Over 46.5 total points odds $1.91 with bet365.)
