Cronulla Sharks vs Manly Sea Eagles Preview & Prediction
After suffering a humbling defeat last week, the Sharks will be hoping to return to the winners circle when they host the Sea Eagles at PointsBet Stadium on Sunday.
Cronulla are gaining a reputation as flat track bullies, with the club winning nine of their 10 games against teams outside the top eight, but consistently failing when facing the competition’s elite sides.
With Manly languishing in 11th spot, the Sharks will be confident of getting back on track, but they need considerable improvement from last week’s poor performance.
Craig Fitzgibbon has swung the axe, with Matt Moylan dropped as Braydon Trindall slots into the halves alongside Nicho Hynes, while Sia Talakai has been demoted to the bench.
Meanwhile, the Sea Eagles were brave in defeat against the in-form Cowboys last week, scoring the first try before surrendering 19-8.
Manly are once again battling away without the injured Tom Trbojevic, so their hopes of making the finals are again low.
The Sea Eagles continue to struggle on the road too, losing nine of their last 11 away fixtures dating back to last season.
VERDICT
Cronulla were terrible last week, but they are always better at home, and as mentioned, they enjoying beating up the weaker sides.
Manly can be solid on their day, but on the road they struggle, so it’s the perfect opportunity for the Sharks to regain some confidence. Sharks have won four of the last five meetings, covering a -8.5 line in three (Best Sharks -8.5 line odds $1.91 with bet365.)
