Cowboys vs Storm Preview and Prediction

Reigning premiers Melbourne are aiming for their 15th consecutive win this season and 11th straight victory over the Cowboys when the two sides meet in Townsville on Friday night.

The Storm couldn’t be any more dominant coming into this showdown – they’ve won their last 14 games, with 13 of those by 13+ margins.

Additionally, the Storm have scored 40+ points in 10 of those wins, including last week’s thumping 48-4 triumph over the Knights.

Craig Bellamy’s side have scored 42 points or more in their last four wins and are simply unstoppable right now.

By complete contrast, the Cowboys are fading badly and head into this encounter on the back of a five-match losing streak.

North Queensland managed to climb into the top eight last month, but they’ve been poor ever since and certainly don’t look like coming anywhere close to challenging the competition leaders.

The Cowboys have conceded 50, 26, 38, 46 and 34 points in their last five defeats and it’s scary to think how many the high-flying Storm can put on them in this game.

VERDICT:

What more is there to say? Melbourne are light years ahead of their opponents and look like toppling 40 points for the fifth consecutive game.

Melbourne have scored at least 42 points in their last five games, while the Cowboys have conceded at least 34 in four of their last five (best Storm win & over 50.5 points odds $1.91 with Sportsbet).

A huge boost for Melbourne as Ryan Papenhuyzen plays his first game since Round 10, while they also have the luxury of resting Origin stars Cameron Munster and Felise Kaufusi.
