Cowboys vs Warriors Preview and Prediction
A spot in the top eight is up for grabs in Townsville on Friday night as the Cowboys play host to the Warriors, with both sides coming off last-start victories.
The Cowboys have been impressive after their slow start to the season and are starting to make their home ground a fortress having won their last four matches on their own turf.
One of those wins came last week when they came from behind and recovered from multiple sin-binnings to beat the Knights 36-20.
North Queensland have now scored 30 points or more in three of their last five wins and are looking extremely dangerous in the opposition red zone – however, they will need to tidy up their defence if they want to be a regular top eight side.
Meanwhile, the Warriors have been inconsistent all season, with none of their five wins coming in successive weeks.
As such, the Warriors will be going for back-to-back victories for the first time in 2021 after they edged the Tigers by four points last week.
The Warriors have showed glimpses of brilliance this season, but they need to be able to produce their best footy week in and week out to make some inroads up the ladder.
Overall, we can expect a close game on Friday night. The last six meetings have been decided by 1-12 margins, but in Townsville, we think the Cowboys have the slight edge and can make it five home wins on the trot.
