Warriors vs Dragons Tips, Preview and Prediction

Everyone’s second-favourite team after sacrificing everything to get the competition back up and running, can the Warriors galvanise and post their first win of the season on Saturday afternoon at their new home on the Central Coast?

Prior to the competition being suspended, the Warriors struggled considerably, tallying only six points in their opening two games as they slumped to lacklustre defeats to the Knights and Raiders.

They do have a positive recent record against the Dragons, winning their last three encounters – although all of them have been close, with the Kiwi club prevailing by eight points or less.

With the likes of Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, Ken Maumalo, Tohu Harris and Adam Blair in their starting side, the Warriors have the talent to make an impact for the rest of the season – but as always, consistency is their biggest issue.

Meanwhile, the Dragons are also winless after two games, going down by 1-12 margins against the Tigers and Panthers.

Paul McGregor’s side traditionally start seasons strongly before losing steam when it matters most after Origin, so they will be desperate to get on the board here.

However, with just two wins from their last 11 away games – and on a three-match losing streak against the Warriors – it looks as if the Dragons will have their work cut out for them here.

Another match in which I think is 50-50, so I’m happy to back the Warriors here. I think their unique situation will bring the club together, while they’ve had success against the Dragons in their recent meetings. It should be close, but I’m siding with the Warriors to just edge it.

Kodi Nikorima comes back into the Warriors’ starting side in place of youngster Chanel Harris-Tavita.

Former Test and Origin star Trent Merrin has been named in the reserves for St George Illawarra, but could come into the side for Euan Aitken.
