Sharks vs Knights Preview and Prediction

Both the Sharks and Knights know their season potentially hangs in the balance as they prepare to face off on Sunday afternoon.

Currently sitting in ninth and 10th spot on the ladder, a loss for either team could see their finals hopes fade away – but a win could also see them climb into the top eight, depending on other results.

Needless to say this is the biggest game of the season for both teams, but only one can emerge triumphant.

We’re backing the Knights to get the job done.

With Mitchell Pearce and Kalyn Ponga back on deck at exactly the right time, the Knights have won their last two matches against an in-form Raiders team and improving Broncos outfit.

Newcastle are a completely different team with their two most influential attacking stars and with a good run home, they will be confident of sneaking into the top eight.

Meanwhile, the Sharks have lost three of their last four games, with their only win during that period coming against the last-placed Bulldogs.

Losing their halves hasn’t helped matters, with the Sharks only managing 16 points in a tight loss to the Warriors last week.

Cronulla have also won just two of their seven matches in Queensland this season, so they are certainly up against it on many fronts in this clash.

VERDICT:

The Knights are the team in form and have won the last three meetings between the teams, while the Sharks are struggling without their halves and don’t have a good record in Queensland this season.

Pearce and Ponga should ensure the Knights close this one out, but their last two wins have been by 1-12 margins and two of the last three games between the sides have been decided by eight points or less – so we’ll be backing another tight one (Best Knights win & Under 55.5 points odds $2.05 with Sportsbet).
