Storm vs Knights Preview and Prediction
In the middle of a blistering run of form, Melbourne look to continue their charge up the ladder when they face an inconsistent Knights outfit to close out Round 12 on Sunday afternoon.
Since losing a close contest to ladder-leaders Penrith, the Storm have been flawless, beating both of last season’s grand finalists the Roosters and Raiders in thrilling showdowns, along with demolishing the lowly Warriors, Titans and Broncos by scoring 40 points or more in each match.
Craig Bellamy’s side are absolutely flying right now and they will be confident of piling on more points against a Newcastle side they have dominated for the last five years.
Indeed, the Storm have won the last eight meetings between the teams, with the last six by 13+ margins. It doesn’t get much more dominant than that.
It’s true that the Knights are a better side these days, but the fact also remains that they haven’t won back-to-back games since Round 2 and have been erratic for most of the season.
Last week’s loss to bottom-placed Canterbury was another indication that the Knights have a long way to go before they can be classified as premiership contenders.
It was around this time last season that the Knights lost some steam and their current form suggests a similar pattern could play out in 2020.
Melbourne are arguably the form team in the NRL and have crushed Newcastle in all of their recent meetings. This should be another comfortable win for the Storm.
