Knights vs Eels Preview and Prediction

Parramatta will be determined to atone for a poor last fortnight when they take on the Knights on Sunday afternoon in the Hunter.

The Eels are beginning to earn a reputation as flat track bullies – they are beating the teams they are supposed to, but when Brad Arthur’s side comes up against the elite, it’s panic stations.

After falling 28-6 at home to the Sea Eagles, the Eels suffered another demoralising loss to the Rabbitohs last week, going down 38-20.

Parramatta haven’t lost three games in a row since Rounds 9-11 during the 2019 season, so another loss here to an undermanned Knights side would be a real blow.

Meanwhile, the Knights bring momentum and confidence into this clash after upsetting an on-fire Manly side 18-10 last week.

Newcastle showcased great resolve to hold Manly scoreless in the second half, but they haven’t won back-to-back games since the start of the season and are again missing Kalyn Ponga and Mitchell Pearce.

VERDICT:

The Eels are in a slump, but they should be able to get out of it on Sunday. Compared to other top sides, they aren’t missing many players due to Origin, while the Knights are without their two most influential stars in Pearce and Ponga.

As mentioned, the Eels haven’t lost three games on the trot in two years and having prevailed by 1-12 margins over the Knights in their last two meetings, we’ll be backing Parra home in another tight and low-scoring contest (Eels win & under 46.5 points at $2.40 best odds with Sportsbet).
