Sea Eagles vs Cowboys Preview & Prediction

An intriguing clash awaits in the first Friday night game as the Sea Eagles entertain the Cowboys at 4 Pines Park.

North Queensland have been by far the more impressive team of the pair after 14 rounds, but there’s some signs an upset could be on the horizon here.

Amazingly, the Cowboys have only played one match in New South Wales for the entire season and they didn’t score a single point in a 22-0 loss to the Panthers.

The Cowboys have lost seven of their last nine games in NSW and a trip to 4 Pines Park against an improving Manly side will be a major test of their premiership credentials.

Throw in the fact that boom second-rower Helium Luki has been ruled out for the season with injury and that is another obstacle the Cowboys will need to overcome.

The Sea Eagles appeared to be struggling following the season-ending injury to Tom Trbojevic, but they’ve bounced back strongly to win their last two games – albeit against the struggling Warriors and Tigers.

However, they were two very solid attacking and defensive performances, crushing the Warriors 44-12 and the Tigers 30-4.

Manly also have a tremendous record at home this season, winning all four of their games at 4 Pines Park. With Daly Cherry-Evans returning and the excellent form of Haumole Olakau’atu and Josh Aloiai in the forwards, the Sea Eagles will fancy their chances of causing an upset on Friday night.

VERDICT:

The Cowboys have been on fire all season, but this is a big test for them and it remains to be seen if they can pass it. They haven’t been the best on the road over the years and didn’t score a single point in their only previous trip to NSW this season.

Manly on the other hand are a perfect 4-0 at home this season and are coming off two massive victories, so their confidence is sky-high. This one certainly has upset potential written all over it, so we’re taking the punt on Manly to continue their strong form at home (Best Sea Eagles +4 line odds $2.00 with Ladbrokes.)
