Cowboys vs Sea Eagles Preview and Prediction

Manly are looking good for a top four spot as they prepare to face the disappointing Cowboys on Saturday night in Townsville.

It’s been a sensational season from the Sea Eagles since Tom Trbojevic returned from injury after missing the first month of the campaign and they are arguably one of just two teams that could potentially disrupt a Melbourne vs Penrith grand final.

Tommy Turbo has been the catalyst for Manly’s turnaround from the start of the year when they went 0-4 and if he can have a big finals series, Des Hasler’s side are every chance of going all the way.

However, there immediate concerns are securing fourth spot – which might already happen before they run out on Saturday night depending on what happens to the Roosters and Eels earlier in the round.

Whatever the case, Manly shouldn’t have any trouble in dispatching the Cowboys if Trbojevic isn’t rested – they’ve won their last 11 games vs top eight teams and scoring a whopping 40 points per game in their wins this season.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys finally snapped their 10-game losing streak with a 38-26 victory over the Dragons last week.

That 10-game losing run was their longest since 2008 and there’s not much hope they can do much to trouble the Sea Eagles on Saturday – even in Townsville.

The Cowboys have leaked 32 points or more in four of their last five defeats and it’s scary to think what Manly will do to them if they are in a mood.

VERDICT:

As mentioned, Manly are scoring an average of 40 points per win this season, while the Cowboys have  the second worst defence in the NRL behind the Bulldogs.

All signs point to a big Manly win with plenty of points – but bet accordingly if Tom Trbojevic is rested on game day (Best Manly 13+ & Over 48.5 points odds $1.88 with Sportsbet).
