Rabbitohs vs Cowboys Preview and Prediction

The Rabbitohs have a golden opportunity to win three matches on the trot for the first time this season and in turn cement their top eight status when they face the lowly Cowboys on Saturday.

Souths simply haven’t been able to get going at all in 2020, but it’s all about timing in the NRL, and with a roster as strong as any team on paper, fans remain optimistic about a big finish when it matters most.

Incredibly, the Rabbitohs haven’t beaten a team inside the top eight all season, so it goes without saying they are going to need significant improvement to challenge for the premiership.

However, as mentioned, they have an excellent chance to build some momentum if they can rack up a big score against the Cowboys in this clash.

North Queensland have experienced a season to forget and are above only the Bulldogs and Broncos on the ladder.

The Cowboys have lost nine of their last 10 games and have seen their premiership-winning coach Paul Green depart the club during that span.

After being hammered by 20 points against the Titans last week, the Cowboys have officially sunk to rock bottom.

Playing at their new home stadium in Townsville also hasn’t helped, with the Cowboys winning just two from seven games at the venue.

Souths still have a lot of improvement in them, but they should be winning this one easily.

Scott Drinkwater is set to return from a knee injury at fullback for the Cowboys, pushing Justin O’Neill out of the backline, while John Asiatia is also back in place of Tom Gilbert.
