Roosters vs Cowboys Preview and Prediction
The Roosters will be looking to keep pace with the top four when they come up against a confident Cowboys outfit on Saturday night.
Despite a growing casualty ward, the Roosters are still going along nicely this season and come into this showdown in fifth spot on the ladder having won six of their nine matches this season.
Only heavyweights South Sydney, Melbourne and Parramatta have defeated the Roosters this season, but how long can Trent Robinson’s side continue to produce their best football with so many key figures sidelined?
We saw the Roosters run out of gas towards the tail-end of last season with similar injury issues and it’s probable that the same thing will happen at some stage this campaign.
Drew Hutchinson is the latest player to be sidelined after last week’s sickening collision against the Eels – although Victor Radley and Sam Walker have both been named after picking up knocks.
Meanwhile, the Cowboys have won four of their last five matches heading into this encounter to be equal seventh on the ladder but down in 11th spot due to their poor points differential.
However, those wins were against the Tigers, Bulldogs, Broncos and an out-of-form Raiders side, so suffice to say this is a massive step up in class for the Cowboys.
Valentine Holmes was the hero for North Queensland last week against the Broncos after kicking the winning field goal in the final minutes.
It’s a good opportunity for the Cowboys to take a big scalp against a depleted Roosters side, but I’m going to need to see more before tipping them against a top four side.
Walker is doing a great job in Luke Keary’s absence and he should be able to steer his side to victory on Saturday night.

Lachlam Lam returns at five-eighth in place of Drew Hutchinson for the Roosters, while Still Tupouniua is back from suspension, pushing Tuku Hau Tapuha to the reserves.
