NRL First Tryscorer Tips

One of the toughest but rewarding markets in NRL betting is the first tryscorer. Obviously, with 26 players on the field at one time, you’re odds of getting it right aren’t great.

However, if you do manage to pick out the first tryscorer, there’s tremendous value on offer.

Outside backs, mostly wingers, are usually the favourites to cross the line first, with most players at odds of between $7.00 and $11. Look for wingers in teams that are near the top of the table, in good form (three to four wins in a row) and have scored multiple tries in their last five games.

More value is on offer if you decide to back a roughie, such as a forward or playmaker in the halves. Sometimes, bustling second-rowers or props are just as likely to barge their way over the line as a winger sprinting down the sideline.

Also watch out for hookers burying their way over from dummy-half or halfbacks/five-eighths taking the defence on close to the line.

There’s also options to back anytime tryscorers, which means you bet on a player to score a four-pointer at any stage of the match. The table below is also useful for seeing who’s scored the most tries this season.

We’ll be back every round of the 2020 NRL season to deliver our best first tryscorer bets.
